2 More Word Turtle Island Characters - the Lead Antagonists
Here I am with more fun art to share. I wish I were sharing news of a public early release of the game. When I mention I'm working on Word Turtle Island as one of my main projects, I'm full of a mix of emotions. Pride, hope, general excitement, those I don't mind. The negative feelings are here with me too, pointing out the calendar goals I've missed. Pointing out how there's so much left to do. Negative voices in my own thoughts and feelings, I don't know any creative person who's kept creating that hasn't also needed to develop a way to manage those negative voices. Useful ways for me include: project management, my map of my creative process, timed work sessions, calendar goals, spirit lifting powerups like music and messaging friends. Also it helps me to see that others are doing this kind of thing, being a solo game creator.
Hearing How Others Do Solo Game Development Helps
I'm glad Matt Hackett wrote the book How to Make a Video Game All by Yourself. It's a helpful guide in many ways, I wish I had such a thing when I started learning to make games. I feel it's also a reassuring resource when you've already started making games, even if that was a long time ago. It's a kind encouraging voice that reminds all of us that it is a do-able challenge to make a game as a solo creator. It's not a technology specific recipe book and I think it's all the better for it. You can have all the technology answers while still being lost in the process of making a game. This book will help you not stay lost.
The Word Turtle Island Main Antagonists
There's a turtle wizard and a great elder turtle who bear most of the blame for the situation that kicks off the game. These two are who causes all the other waves of book stealing and island harming creatures to show up.
